Titles

Because of the amount of time we have and the lack of footage, our opening sequence isn't as long as it should be. We decided because of that, we would have a long time at the beginning of the sequence for all of the titles. At the moment, it doesn't look very effective and looks like it would lose the audience's interest, but once we have added music and more effects, this problem will be overcome.

Editing

Today we started editing properly. We had previously cut the shots and ordered them on Final Cut Pro. So, we started to think about how we could make it more creative with the lack of footage we had. We tested some effects but decided that they didn't work for our film. We decided that the pace of our opening was quite slow, so to speed it up we cut an extremely short clip from our footage and wanted to place it in between one of our longest clips to make it more interesting for the audience. After doing this, we realised that it looked like it wasn't meant to be there so we decided to add in more of the same quick clips in random places on the long clip. It made it more flashy and fitted into the genre more. We then added an earthquake effect on the short clips to give it an even better effect.

We now need to add the titles and soundtrack to our opening sequence. We realise now that some of our ideas (polaroids) were too hard to film and would have taken a lot more than we initially thought. Our aim now is to make our plot/story behind the opening clear to the audience. As we could not get our actor in the same shot twice, we need to edit it well to make it apparent that they are clones.

On set shots

We then started experimenting with lighting and camera angles inside the building to see which parts would be the appropriate places to film our different shots in.

After finding the correct places we intended to use, we then with the help of a few others not included in our group, swept and cleaned the floor so it would okay for our actor (Jake) to lay down and to walk on while shooting without distraction or danger.

Once this was completed we started on the filming for our second and third shots,in which Jake walks through the room and through the door into the main area. During this time, as a group we worked all the lightning to the final places before starting filming.

We then proceeded to the shots that take place as he is lying on the floor, playing dead.We did some final preparations before this to make sure the floor was completely clear of any debris, not only for the safety, but also for the placing of the camera shot. We added fake blood to his face and part of the floor as well.

After leaving the warehouse,we decided that starting our film with an establishment shot of the building would be better than the original idea we had which was the polaroid scene we story boarded (inspired by Memento). So we shot a slow moving along establishment shot of the outside of the building. in which the light turns on in the room where Jake's character is placed,to show which part of the building he is in.

Location

Today we found our location. It is a disused warehouse with a door which is exactly what we need. It has some windows which shine a lot of natural light through. The location is quite eerie and suspicious which is again, what we wanted.
Photos will be uploaded soon...

This is the kind of location we imagine filming in.

Location

We are looking for a large warehouse space for the main scene of are introduction so we have a lot of space to work in plus an area we can make very dark for the dramatic lighting we need to use. Also the warehouse is a blank canvas so it can look like its from any time period so they cant tell its the present and not the near future. So we are gonna go looking into ares around Weston in which we can film in hopefully looking for old abandoned warehouses.

Font ideas

This is the font we have chosen to use for our film title. We chose to use this font as it is different and robotic. It fits in with our futuristic feel well and has a slightly weird quality to it. We like the way that there are no round edges, they all look as if they have been cut. It makes the font look sharp and defines the word. It makes it look more eyecatching and intreguing. We also like the way the 'O' is not joined up. The other letters are joined up (the 'I' has two seperate parts but they are both complete). The 'O' seems to be broken, and looks like it is not meant to be this way. We like this as it represents that the other clones are content with the way things are, but one clone is different and in a way is broken mentally. This links to why the clone started the whole situation, and is why we are using this font for our opening sequence.

We also thought that this font worked. We liked the way in which there are many sections to each letter, representing the many clones around and the different types of clones. We thought that this one also showed a bit of a futuristic feel to it, but thought it was not a font that would necesserily be in a thriller film, and thought the other font had better relations to our film than this one.

We liked this font also, only because of the 'T'. We liked the way in which it was split into two, as it represented cloning perfectly. It represents the way in which one thing is split into two, etc. However, we realised that we would only want this font for our title, 'Omni', and this word does not have the letter 'T' in it. We also agreed that the font we have chosen again, has more relations to our film than this one.
